If you feel like it is stuck you have to loosen the soil a little but more to push the tool deeper under the roots.
When using the fork, the whole weed should pop out of the ground without leaving any pieces of root in the ground for re-sprouting.

It gives great leverage to get rid of weeds, but it would’ve been nice if the prongs were a bit longer. Still works very well though.
